Employees Directed Actions

São Luiz created a committee in charge of the Program for Management of Health Service Solid Waste (PGRSS), consisting of employees from various areas of both branches. The committee’s purposes are: to reduce risks through a specific treatment for each type of waste, to make recycling easier by separating solid waste from ordinary garbage, enabling the latter to be handled with no special protection and, occasionally, recycled; in addition to teaching such new routines to all the employees who work at the hospital.

Employees Directed Actions

The Immediate Recognition Program has been developed to pay homage to those co-workers who have excelled in their professional performance, with actions and conduct that constitute a good example for everyone.

The Occupational Medicine Life Quality Program has been promoting actions in connection with the physical, mental and emotional health of co-workers. Annual vaccination campaigns are held against influenza and tetanus for Maintenance personnel and against Hepatitis B for those who operate in areas with greater contamination risk. Additionally, in the physical health field, Occupational Medicine coordinates programs, such as dengue and conjunctivitis attack campaigns, smoking reduction and prevention, among others.

The “No Accident” campaign, implemented in 2003, minimizes the occurrence of accidents involving perforating and cutting materials, particularly in areas such as the operating centers, the hospital admission wings and the Hotel keeping. For that purpose, the nursing employees are constantly informed on the importance of the proper disposal of needles and other materials, thus avoiding the risk of contamination. Mechanisms have been developed within the operating centers in order to properly eliminate any contaminated materials. As a supplemental and preventive measure, vaccination against Hepatitis B is required for all co-workers.
